TEXAS I WAS p.-zSZNTED TO THE CITY COUNCIL MAR R +A AND WAS ICE OVFRQVMY MANAGER Communication to Mayor and Council No.L GA PWO 113 March 18, 1960 ity Secretary Honorable Mayor and Re: Request of Texas Highway Members of the City Council Department for annexation City of Fort Worth of District Office Tract on Second Reading Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen: The Texas Highway Department has requested that its District Office tract be annexed to the city on second and final reading. Location The requested tract is identified on the city tax recor$s as Tract 5 (35.312 acres), M. J. Arocha Survey, Abstract No. I . The tract is bounded on the north by the Southwest Loop, on the west by Wellview Street, on the east by the G. C. and S. F. Railroad, and on the south by property in the city limits on final reading and zoned "E" Commercial . First Reading This tract was annexed on first reading by Ordinance No. 3868, adopted May 20, 1958, and published May 26, 1958, and was a part of the 252 square miles placed under first reading in May and June of 1958. At that time, the Texas Highway Department was planning a district headquarters on the site. Certain phases of operation would have called for a Light Industrial zoning classification if the property were in the city limits and subject to zoning prior to construction. Agreement was reached that the tract would be held in first reading until construction was completed, and would then be given second and final reading. In addition to the Highway Department tract, Ordinance No. 3868 embraces the right-of-way of the G. C. and S. F. Railroad Co., between the South- west Loop and County Road No. 1022; and a small area immediately north of County Road No. 1002 and immediately west of the G. C. and S. F. Railroad. The Planning and Zoning Division recommends that Ordinance No. 3868 be adopted on second reading, annexing all the above described property to the city limits. The Public Works Department and this office concurs in the recommendation. Respectfully submitte , LPC:ih L. P. `o ingham City Manager
