An ordinance requiring the owners of automobiles to register

the same with the City Secretary and providing for the regulation
of the use, operation and management of automobiles upon public
streets, alleys, squares, etc., in the City of Fort Worths and repeal-
ing Sections 768, 7697 770,771-and 772 of the Revised ordinances as
codified by William D. William and T. J. Powell and repealing Ordina>

Sec. 1. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, firm,
OgOcorporation to drive, propel or to use or to cause to be driven,ppos
pelled or used in, upon, along or across any public square, street,
alley or public place in the City of 'mort Worth any vehicle or
vehicles of the kind coknonly known and styled as automobiles ,
low unless the owner of such vehicle or vehiiles shall have complied

Sec. 2. The owner of any automobile shall register the
-said vehicle(with the city secretary, and procure from the said city
secretary a certificdte thereof, which said certificate shall state
that. the owner, giving his name, has registered his said vehicle,
giving, a general description thereof, and that a number has been
given the same, which number shall be certified in the face of the
certificate. The city secretary shall keep a register in which he
shall note the name of the owner of the vehicle registered, to-
zether with a general description of the vehicle registered, to-
r-ether with- its number, and he shall in-no event. give the same
number to any two of said vehicles, but they shall be numbered in
the order of their registration The owner of any sueh vehicle s�71all
after registration as aforesaid cause to be painted, placed or
affixed on and to the back of the said vehicle in a conspicuous
place its number as certified in the certificate of registration, in
figures not less than six inches in height and proportionately
broad.

shall note the fact of said transfer in his book required herein

as vaild and shall protect the purchaser of the said vehicle to
the same extent as would an original certificate of registration
Sec. 3. i - shall hereafter be unlaitiful for any person, Firm
or corporation to drive, propel or use or cause to be driven, pro-
pelled or used in, along or across any public street, alley, square
or other public places in the City of Fort Worth any vehicle or
vehicles of the kind known and styled as automobiles unless the
said vehicle or vehicles shall have been provided with at least
wo lamps which shall be lighted during the hours of darkness and
which A4 1 be of such character, size, and strength as to be plain-
ly visible for 1/4 of a mile in front of said vehicle and it
shall also be unlawful unless said vehicle 'or vehicles shall be pro-
vided with a good and sufficient gong or horn capable of giving
such warning - as can be heard for a distance of at SST,, 15rM feet.
It shall also be unlawful for any person to run or drive
or direct or permit the running or driving of any such vehicle in,
upon, along or across any public square, street or alley or other
public places within the corporate limits of the City of Vort. worth
at a greater rate of speed than _/ miles per hour; provided
that. upon the following streets in said City the said automobiles
may be run or driven at a rate of speed not greater than

Husk, Main, Houston and , Throckmortorr Streets from Beli)map

,aaervoation on the south, and all streets running e. a" aost
across the streets above mentioned from Rusk to Throckmorton between
said Belknap Street, on the north and the Texas and pacific Railway'
Reservation on the south.
Also Jennings Avenue from its intersection with Throckworton :W
street to Broadwa:yt, and South Main Street from the north side of
the Texas and pacific reservation to Broadway and ''rout Street east
from Plain Street to South Roams G+road fnNI r Q
Provided further that parties running or driving such
vehicles shall not be exempt from the charge of negligence when
running at the rate of speed herein prescril.ed or at any less
rate if the crowded condition of the street or circiunstances of

danger attending any person or property thereon or other conditions
v or circumstances . mould suggest to a reasonable person that
'banger to .any other person or the property of other person or pler+
sons on said street# for bids the speed actually being run.
Sec. 4. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to drive, .propel or to use or cause to be
driven, propelled or used, in, upon, along or across any public
square, street, alley or public place in the City of Fort Worth any
vehicle or vehicles of the kind commonly known and styled as
automobiles, unless such person, firm or corporation shall sound the
gong or blow the horn hereinbefore provided for at such times and
places as may be necessary to give notice to all persons upon said
street or about to enter upon the same of the approach of said
automobile. The said party in charge of said automobile to exercise
great caution and care in sounding said gong or blowing said horn
so as to give proper notice of its approach and at the same
time to mee to it that the same is not sounded or blown in such
way as to unnecessarily excite or alarm any Morse being driven or
riden upon- said street.. And it shall be the duty of said party in
charge of said automobile to at all times be on the look out`to
prevent frightening horses which may be upon said street and in
the event such parties discover that a horse is frightened it _
shall be his duty to check the speed of said automobile or so veer
the same around said horse or horses as to prevent frightening
the same so for as it is practicable so to do.
Sec. 5. Any person, firm or corporation driving, propelling
causing to be driven, propelled or used in, upon,
along or across any pub7.147 oqT are, s re6f, ally or pIMblic mace in'
the pity of -Tort Worth any vehicle or vehicles of the kind
h commonly known and styled as automobiles contrary to any provisions
of, this ordinance or of the various sections thereof, or without

complying with all of the regulations herein provided, shall be deemed
b guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof shall be fined
not less than One Dollar nor more than two hundred dollars.
Sec. 6. That all-ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith and especially Sections 768,169,770, 771 and 772 of
the revised ordinances of the City of Fort Worth as codified by

William D. Williams and T. J. Powell and Ordinance go. 12 as passed
by the Board of Commissioners oil May 28th, 1907 be and the same
are hereby repealed from and after the date that this ordinance
goes into effect and that this ordinance be in effect, from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
I hereby certify that the above and foregoing ordinance was pres-
ented and unanimously passed by the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Fort Worth, at a session held, June 16th, 1908.
