THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, AWARDING THE CONTRACT OF THE IMPROVEMENTS ON UNIVERSITY DRIVE FROM CULLEN STREET TO JACKSBORO HIGHWAY IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZED ITS EXECUTION: AND IERECTING THE CITY ,ENGINEER TO PREPARE ESTIMATES WHEREAS, by Ordinance Nos. 4350 thra 4351 passed and approved by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, the City Council determined the necessity for and ordered the improvement of a portion of the following streets, to-wit: UNIVERSITY DRIVE: from the Northerly line of Cullen Street to the southerly line of Jacksboro Highway. WHEREAS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said Ordinance, Plans and Specifications for said improvements were submitted by the Public Works Director and said Plans and Specifications were approved and adopted by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, Notice to Bidders was given as required by the City Charter; and, WHEREAS, the bid of Worth Construction Company was found to be the lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvements, to-wit: Excavation of present streets, construction of various types of pavement with combined curb and gutter and necessary appurtenances, all as provided by said Plans and Specifications: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION I That the work of making and constructing such improvements and contracts therefore is hereby awarded to Worth Construction Company, at and for the prices ratatw4 ira 11a ^ 1 ac **=wsl CQApany and as reported and recommended by the Public Works Department. The City Manager and City Secretary are hereby directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said contract embracing therein, among other things, the prices for the work. 4s J kEGTIQN II That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the City of Fort Worth by said Contract, there is hereby appropriated out of available funds, which have been set aside for said purpose an amount sufficient to pay said indebtedness so incurred. SECTION III That the Public Works Director of the City of Fort Worth be, and he is hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimates of the cost of such improvements in accordance with .the terms of the powers and provisions of Chapter 106 of the Acts of the First called session of the Fortieth Iegislature of the State of +exas, now shown as Article 1105b of Vernon's Civil Statutes of tYe State of Texas, Annotated, which law has been adopted as an amendment to and oade a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth. September 9, 1960 C:' o orabie Mayor and Re: Assessment Paying of University Members of the City Council Drive from Cullen Street to City of Fort Worth Jacksboro Highway, Project No. 94 G 27 (AP 60 27) CIP 1 2 Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen: On August 29, 1960, bids were received for the Construction of University Drive from Cullen Street to Jacksboro Highway in I accordance with Ordinance Nos. 4350 and 4351 . The specifications provided for alternate types of pavement which are: Commercial : (a) 7" Reinforced Concrete Pavement (b) It" Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete Surface on 61" Reinforced Concrete Base. The projects is divided into two units, the first being on the assessment basis with the contractor handling the assessment procedure and the second teing on the cash basis. The contract to be awarded includes both units. Two bids were submitted on the above stated basis, with the combination of alternates as follows: CONTRACTOR UNIT I UNIT 11 TOTAL TYPE I . Worth Const. Base On the basis of the lowest bid submitted to the amount of $193,070.02 by Worth Construction Company, the City's portion of the cost will be $188,419:21 and the property owner's cost will be $4,650.81 . It is recommended that an appropriation request in the amount of $ 150,000 from the 94 Bond Fund and an appropriation request in the amount of $50,000 from the 84 Bond Fund be approved.
