An ordinance regulating the manner in which junk shall
° be bought by dealers in same, and requiring such dealers •to
keep a book or registry in which shall be set down and noted,
in ink, the name of the person and his address from whom such
,junk is purchased and a description of the articles,and pro-
hibiting purchases from minors except by written consent of
parent or guardian,and requiring each dealer to obtain an an-
nual 1-�.cense and pay therefor the sum of fifty dollars per
year, and providing penalties for the violation of this ordi-
nance.
BE IT ORDAINED BY/ THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH:-
Sec•tlan 1. That all persons, associations of persons, fimms
or corporations within the corporate limits of the City of Fart
Worth dealing in or engaged in the business of buying and sel-
ling Junk or other merchandise of which junk is a part, be and
they and each of them are hereby required to kee.p and maintain

n shall be explicitly, plainly and intelligibly noted and set,
down,with pen and ink, in the English language, without alter-
ation or erasure, the name,residence and street number of the
person or persons, firm or corporation,and the agent, messengbr

quantity of junk,and if the same be finished product or severed
parts of same,then each of same shall be separately listed and
described; the dtty of the week and time of day and the month
' and year on which the purchase or sale was made, and whether
the person offering such article or articles for sale be an
adult or minor, male or female.
SaCtion 2. The book or register specified in Section 1

hereof shall be accessible at all times to the police or other
peace officera,who shall have the right to examine same when
searching br looking for lost or stolen articles, or in deter-
mining whether the provisions of this ordinance are kept and
observed.
Section 3. The term"Junk" is herein used in its ordinary
and usual trade acceptation, but it shall be expressly hald
to include every and all metallic substance4
(except the precious metals handled or- offered for sale by dos
era in junk.
Section 4. No junk shall be sold or removed by the deal-
er 7°ithin twenty-four hours after same has been purchased or
acquired.
Section 5. No purchase of junk shall be made from minors
except _by written consent of the parent or guardian of such
minor,which writing shall always be preserved for inspection
by the police and a notation of same made on the registry
kept by the junk dealer.
Section B. Hereafter,and immediately upon the taking
effect of this ordinance, each dealer in junk within the cor-
porate limits of the City of Fort Worth is required to take
out and obtain an annual license from the City of Fort Worth
which shall be issued by the Assessor and Collector of taxes
F of said cityJand for which a, license fee of fifty dollars
shall be paid to the City of Fort Worth; and in addition to
such license fee,each dealer shall make and enter into a bon

in the sum of one thousand dollars,with two or more good and

SUfficient sureties, or with a surety company the reon,to be
approved by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Fort .
Worth, payable to the City of Fort Worth, conditioned that
such dealer will strictly keep and obse mo the provisions of
this and other like ordioances regulating such trade that
may be passed by the City of Fort Worth and that he will pay
to the owner thereof the value of any lost or stolen article
of junk,which such dealer has acquired and disposed of with-
out the consent or authority of such owner; which bond may
be sued on by the City of Fort Worth or any person aggrieved,
in any court of competent jurisdiction; provided,hcwever,
that where such suit is maintained by some person other than e
the City of Fort Worth,that the said City of Fort Worth shall
not be responsible for the court costs or any other matter
therein involved;

Section 7. Any person,firm or corporation violating the
provisions of this ordinance,shall be deemed guilty of misde-
meanor,and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum
not less than dT.r dollars and no more than

Section S. All ordinances and parts of ordinances iTyoc-ft—
flict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
N Section 9. This ordinance shall hake effect and be in
force from and after its passage and publication as require
by law.
