HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2560 ORDINANCE NO. 2.56e AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC worm: AWARDING THE CONTRACT rFDRY� IMPFOVE101T OF A PORTION OF MORTON STREET IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZ- ING ITS EXECUTION: MAKING APPROPRIATION FOR THE INDEBTEDNESS IN- CURRED THEREBY: AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO PREPARE ESTI- MATES. YIHEIM, on the 12th day of May, 1948, by Ordinance passed and ap- proved by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth being Ordinance No. #2534, the City determined the necessity for and ordered the improvement of a portion of Morton Street, to-wit; MORTON STREET from the westerly line of Currie Street to the easterly line of University Drive, save and except the intersection of Nornood Street. WHEREAS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said ordinance, plans and specifications for said improvements were submitted by the City Engineer and said plans and specifications were approved and adopted by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, notice to bidders was given as required by the City Charter; and, iVf MAS, the bid of the General Construction Company, unincorporated, was found to be the lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvements, to-wit, excavating present street, placing thereon a 2 inch compacted gravel foundation course, and paving with 7 inches of rein- forced concrete pavement with combined concrete curb and gutter, together with incidentals and appurtenances, all as provided by said plans and speci- fications; NOW, THEREFORE, EK IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the work of making and constructing such improvements and con- tract therefor is hereby awarded to the General Construction Company, unin- corporated, at and for the prices stated in the proposal of the said company and as reported and recommended by the Department of Public Works. The Mayor and City Secretary, are hereby directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said Contract embracing therein, among other things, the prices for the work. - . SECTION 2. That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the City* of Fort Worth by said contract, there is hereby appropriated out of available funds which have been set aside for said purpose, an amount sufficient to pay said indebtedness so incurred. SECTION 3• That the City Bagineer of the City of Fort Worth be and he is hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimates of the costs of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and provisions of Chapter 106 of the acts of the First called Session of the Fortieth Legislature of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105b of Vernon's Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, Annotated, which law has been adopted as an amendment to and made a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth.
