HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2402 ORDINANCE NO. 2402 AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AND DECLARING IN FORCE AND EFFECT A CERTAIN AMENDIENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, DULY AND LEGALLY ADOPTED AND MADE A PART OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH AT AN ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 17TH DAY OF DEMMER, A. D. 1946. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That on the 9th day of October, A. D. 1946, an ordinance was duly passed by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth giving due notice, in strict compliance with the Constitution and statutes of the State of Texas, of its intention to pass an ordinance providing for the submission to the qualified voters of the said City of Fort Worth of proposed amend- ments to the existing Charter. SECTION 2. That notice of intention to submit such charter amendments was duly given by publication in The Fort Worth Tmas, a newspaper published daily in the City of Fort Worth and the official newspaper of said City, which notice was published for ten (10) days, the date of the first publication thereof being not less than twenty (20) days next preceding the date of the passage of the ordinance calling said election and submitting said amendments. That on Wednesday, the 13th day of November, A. D. 1946, the City Council duly enacted Ordinance No. 2367, ordering a special home-rule election in the City of Fort Worth to be held on Tuesday, the 17th day of December, A. D. 1946, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City, for adoption or rejection, certain proposed amendments to the existing Charter, and that said election was held in strict compliance with all laws governing said election. SECTION 3. That all acts, conditions, notices and things required by the Consti- tution and laws of the State of Texas precedent to the passage of the ordinance submitting said amendments and the calling and holding of said election have been done, have happened, and have been performed in proper and lawful time, form and manner as prescribed by lax. SECTION 4• It appearing that Amendment No. %VI was approved and adopted by the qualified voters of the City of Fort Worth and that the presiding officers in each precinct under oath made their returns as true and correct to the best of t6ir knowledge and belief on December 17; 1946, said Amendment No. XVI, which is described as follows, became a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth on the said 17th day of December, 1946: AMENDIENT NO. %VI. Shall Chapter XM of the existing Charter of the City of Fort Worth, which chapter sets forth and defines the present corporate boundaries of said City by metes and bounds, be amended by adding thereto Section 16 (b), which reads as follows: Section 16 (b). The corporate boundaries of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, shall be changed so as to annex cer- tain adjacent and contiguous territory to said City by ex- tending said boundary lines as follows: The area embracing the territory known as Handley and Rosedale Park Addition, situated in Tarrant County, Texas: Beginning at a point in the present city limits, said point being in the south line of Ramey Street and the west line of Stalcup Road (Wi.nnie Street); thence easterly to the southwest corner of the Chas. Phipps Survey; thence east along the south line of said Phipps Survey to the southeast corner of said survey, said corner being in the west line of the J. A. Creary Survey; thence south along the west line of the J. A. Creary Survey to the south- west corner of the Carl Wollner 142.83 acre tract in said Creary Survey; thence easterly along the south line of said 142.83 acre tract to its south- east corner in the west line of the R. F. Ball 11.57 acre tract in said Creary Survey; thence south along the west line of said 11.57 acre tract to its southwest comer; thence east along the south line of said 11.57 acre tract to the south- westerly line of Arkansas Lane in said Creary Sur- vey; thence southeasterly along the southwesterly line of Arkansas Lane to its intersection with the center line of Village Creek; thence down the center of-Village Creek with its meanders to its intersec- tion with the east line of the B. E. Beaty 58 acre tract in the J. A. Creary Survey; thence north along the east line of said 58 acre tract to its north- east corner; thence west along the north line of said Beaty 58 acre tract to the northeasterly line of Arkansas Lane; thence northwesterly along the northeasterly line of Arkansas Lane to the east line of the Texas Electric Service Co. 77.17 acre tract in�the J. A. Creary Survey$ thence north along the east line of said 77.17 acre tract to the north line of said Creary Survey; thence east along the north line of said Creary Survey to its northeast corner, being the southeast comer of the S. G. Jennings Survey; thence north'along the east line of said Jennings Survey and continuing north along the east line of the J. W. Haynes Survey and the W. S. Sublett Survey to a point in the north line of Meadowbrook Drive, said point being also in the east line of the W. S. Sublett Survey; thence west along the north line of Meadowbrook Drive to its intersection with the present city limits, said point of intersec- tion being 100 feet east of the east line of Weiler Boulevard and in the north line of Meadowbrook Drive; thence south along the present city limits 100 feet east of and parallel with the east line of Weiler Boulevard and continuing along the present city limits to the place of beginning. SECTION 5. That the City Secretary is hereby ordered and directed to enter said Amen4ent No. %VI in the records of the City in a separate book kept in his office for such purpose. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect the 17th day of December, 1946, the date the election was held and the returns received and tabulated.
