BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1, That Ordinance No. 2028 be amended by adding thereto Sections 11 (a), 11 (b) and 11 (c), and after being so amended said sections shall read as follows: 11 (a) Any animal of the dog kind that has rabies or symptoms thereof, or that is suspected of having rabies or that has been exposed to rabies shall be at once released to the dog catcher for disposal or confined in a veterinary hospital approved by the Director of the Department of Public Health and Welfare, or immediately and securely con- fined by tying with a chain of good quality and kept there under the supervision of the Department of Public Health and Welfare for a period of not less than sixty days. 11 (b) Every animal dT-ffe- dog hind that has rabies or symptoms thereof, or any animal that bites, scratches or otherwise attacks any persons within the city limits shall be immediately and securely confined by the owner, or one having custody, by tying with a chain of good quality for a period of fourteen days in such a place that no person or animal may be bitten by it, and there held subject to inspection from time to time so as to be able to determine whether said animal is affected by rabies; or said animal shall be quarantined and held for a like time in any veterinary hospital approved by the Director of the Depart- ment of Public Health and Welfare or shall be held at the, citypound for fourteen days, after which time the dog shall be killed if in quarantine at the city pound. 11 (c) It shall be the duty of the owner or the har- borer or the practicing veterinarian to report to the Di- rector of the Department of Public Health and Welfare all cases of rabies with which he comes in contact or to which his attention has been directed. This report shall be made immediately upon diagnosis or suspicion of such cases of rabies. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be and is hereby declared to be cumulative of all ordinances of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, providing for the licensing and regulation of dogs, and shall not operate to repeal or affect any such ordinance or ordinances except insofar as the provisions { of such ordinance or ordinances are in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, in which instance, or instances, those provisions shall be and they are hereby repealed. SECTION 3, Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum of money not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). SECTION b, This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and publication as provided by law, APPROVED AS TO FORM: City Attorney.
