AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT;
AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PORTIONS OF HUNTER
STREET, TERRELL AVENUE, NORTHWEST TWENTY FOURTH STREET, AND
SEMINARY DRIVE IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TXW, AND AUTHORIZING
ITS EBECUTION; MAKING APPROPRIATION FOR THE INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED
THEREBY; AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO PREPARE ESTIMATES.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3344, Ordering the Paving of Terrell Avenue
was adopted by the City Council on June 1, 1955; Ordinance No. 3386, Or-
dering the paving of Hunter Street was adopted by the City Council on
September 21, 1955; Ordinance No. 3395, Ordering the Paving of Northwest
Twenty-Fourth Street was adopted by the City Council October 28, 1955,
and Ordinance No. 3397+`'Ordering the Paving of Seminary Drive was adopted
by the City Council on November 2, 1955, the City determined the necessity
for and ordered the improvement of the following portions of the streets,
to-wit,
HUNTER STREET, from the northerly line of Craig Street to the
southerly line of Beaty Street, known and designated as Unit No. 1.
TERRELL AVENUE, from the westerly line of Missouri Avenue to
the easterly line of the North-South Freeway, known and designated as
Unit No. 2.
NORTHWEST TWENTY-FOURTH STREET, from the northwesterly line of
Robinson Street to the southeasterly line of Titus Street, known and
designated as Unit No. 3.
SEMINARY DRIVE, from the easterly line of Travis Avenue to the
westerly line of Hemphill Street, known and designated as Unit No. 4.
WHEREAS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said. ordinance,
plans and specifications for said improvements were submitted by the
Public Works Director and said plans and specifications were approved and
adopted by the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, notice to bidders was given as required by the City
Charter; and,
WHEREAS, the bid of General Construction Company was found to
be the lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said ,improve-
ments, to-wit: Construction of necessary storm drain facilities, excavation
of present street and placing 7P compacted flexible base course with
combined curb and gutter and necessary appurtenances, and placing 1p
Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete Surface, all as provided by said plans and
specifications;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That the work of making and constructing such improvements and contract
therefor is hereby awarded to General Construction Company, at and for
the prices stated in the proposal of the said company and as reported and
recommended by the Public Works Department. The Mayor and City Secretary
are hereby directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City
of Fort Worth, Texas, and to impress the corporate seal of the City, there—
on, the said Contract embracing therein, among other things, the prices
for the work.
SECTION 2.
That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the City
of Fort Worth by said Contract, there is hereby appropriated out of avail—
able funds which have been set aside for said purpose, an amount sufficient
to pay said indebtedness so incurred.
SECTION 3.
That the Pablic Works Director of the City of Fort Worth be and he is
hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimates of the
cost of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and
provisions of Chapter 106 of the acts of the First called session of the
Fortieth Legislature of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105b of
Vernonts Civil Statues of the State of Texas, Annotated, which law has
been adopted as an amendment to and made a part of the Charter of the City
of Fort Worth.
