HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998/10/13-Minutes-City Council-Executive Session SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 13, 1998 Date & Time On the 13th day of October, A.D., 1998, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, met in special session, at 4:58 p.m., with the following members and officers present: Attendance Mayor Pro tempore Silcox; Council Members Becky Haskin, Frank Moss, Clyde Picht, Jeff Wentworth, and Ralph McCloud; Assistant City Manager Ramon Guajardo; City Attorney Wade Adkins; City Secretary Gloria Pearson. With more than a quorum present, the following business was transacted: Executive Session It was the consensus of the City Council that the City Council meet in closed session at 4:58 p.m. to conduct a special session for the following purposes: 1. To seek the advise of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other mattes that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules: a) Legal issues concerning contract with Howard Construction Company, Inc. for work at Bass Performance Hall b) Legal issues concerning bids for lease of golf carts for Parks and Community Services Department c) Yolanda Pantoja et al. v. City of Fort Worth and J.W. Grow, Cause No. 4-98- CV-0063E CITY COUNCIL ``4 SPECIAL MEETING FORT WORTH, TEXAS OCTOBER 13, 1998 PAGE 2 d) Application of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for an Expanded Toll-Free Local Calling Surcharge, PUC Docket No. 181513, SOAH Docket No. 473-98-0266 e) Bruce Cox v. Employment Retirement Fund of the City of Fort Worth and Ronny Hyde, Cause No. 236-175516-98 f) City of Fort Worth v. City of Dallas et al., Cause No. 48-171109-97 g) City of Dallas v. City of Fort Worth et al., Cause No. 3-97-CV-2734-T As authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code. 2. To discuss the lease and value of public rights of way for use by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, as authorized by Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. The public discussion of this matter would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party.
