Subject: Project No. 00482
Storm Water Utilities, Milam Street Drainage Improvements
Additional Services Request#4
Dear Mr. Simmons:
In accordance with the City of Fort Worth's request, we are submitting this request for additional
services for design engineering of the modifications of the street intersections along Milam Street at
Norma Street, Greenlee Street, and Van Natta Lane and to provide detailed traffic control and detour
plans for construction of the overall project improvements. It is the City's desire to incorporate the
design for these additional improvements as part of the Milam / Robinhood Storm Water Utilities
project. The following scope of services will be integrated into the overall project scope:
Scope of Services
INTERSECTION DESIGN
Task 1: Grading and Paving Design
AECOM will provide design for the intersections at Milam Street and Greenlee Street, Norma Street,
and Van Natta Lane. Design will eliminate existing transverse cross-gutters that currently cross
Milam Street and provide grading and improvement solutions that will redirect surface flows to the
storm drain system within Milam Street. Intersection design will include longitudinal cross gutters at
the referenced intersections, modification of curb returns and ramps to meet accessibility
requirements as specified by TDLR/TAS standards as necessary. The storm drain system will be
modified as necessary to meet the revised surface flow conditions that will result from elimination of
the transverse cross gutters on Milam.
Task 2: Drainage Design and Calculations
Drainage calculations will be revised to reflect new surface flow conditions resulting from elimination
of the transverse cross-gutters. Both hydrologic and hydraulic calculations will be updated on the
plans and changes incorporated into the XP-SMM model prepared for the project.
TRAFFIC CONTROL
AECOM will prepare Traffic Control Plans(TCP)for the proposed drainage improvements along
Milam Street in Fort Worth, Texas. The following sections provide a summary of the proposed tasks.
Task 1:Field Visits/Data Collection
AECOM will perform one field visit to plan the detours for the TCP.
AECOM
Task 2: Develop Construction Plans
AECOM will develop construction plans for Traffic Control for the proposed drainage improvements
along
Milam Street from Meadowbrook Drive to Annatta Street. These plans will be based on the concept
that
the city will allow closure of Milam Street one block at a time. The construction plans will feature
closure
plans and detour plans for the proposed project. The sheets anticipated for this task are as follows:
1)Traffic Control Plans(5 Sheets)
2) Detour Plans(2 Sheets)
3)Typical Sections(1 Sheet)
4) Night Time Closure Plan (1 Sheet)
Clarifications and Exceptions (Special Services not included in Budget)
1. Coordination with property owners
2. Construction phase services for Traffic Control
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
AECOM will continue to perform project management duties for the project in effort to accomplish
coordination, maintain schedules, provide quality assurance and quality control measures and provide
monthly progress reports.
COMPENSATION
Services for the scope of services described above will be provided for a Lump Sum basis fee of
$38,777 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the existing agreement for services dated
April 3, 2007. The proposed fee is based on fee breakdown provided in the task summary below and
in the attached "Exhibit A" and is inclusive of required basic services.
We appreciate the opportunity to continue our work on this project with you. Should you have any
questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Greg Crews at
972.735.3031.
Sincerely,
Don D'Adam Greg Crews, P.E.
