AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, ON TUESDAY, THE FT. WORTH, TEX.
12TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, A. D. 1961, AND PROVIDING FOR THE
SUBMISSION OF A PROPOSITION CONCERNING THE SALE OF ALL, OR
PART OF APPROXIMATELY ONE HUNDRED SIX (lob) ACRES OF LAND
IN THE A. VOUGHT AND JAMES SMITH SURVEYS, TARRANT COUNTY,
TEXAS, SAID PROPERTY BEING ALSO KNOWN AS THE WORTH HILLS
GOLF COURSE, FOR A CONSIDERATION OF SIXTY-FIVE HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($6,5oo.00) PER ACRE, SAID SALE TO BE MADE TO
TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That in compliance With the laws and Constitution of the State of
Texas, a special election be, and the same is hereby, called and ordered
for Tuesday, the 12th day of September, A. D. 1961, at Which election the
following proposition shall be submitted to the qualified voters in said
City of Fort Worth, Texas:
PROPOSITION
Shall the City of Fort Worth, Texas, through its City
Council, be authorized to sell to Texas Christian Uni-
versity for educational purposes all or part of approxi-
mately one hundred six (106) acres of land in the A. Vought
and James Smith Surveys, Tarrant County, Texas, said real
property being also known as the Worth Hills Golf Course,
for a consideration of Sixty-five Hundred Dollars ($6,500.00)
per acre?
SECTION 2.
That the City Secretary of said City shall prepare or cause to be
prepared ballots to be used at said election and shall stamp same or
cause same to be stamped "official Ballot," on which ballots shall be
printed the proposition hereinabove set forth.
SECTION 3.
That all voters who favor the proposition to sell the property here-
inabove described shall have Written or printed upon their ballots the
words,
"FOR the Sale,"
and those opposed shall have written. or printed upon their ballots the
words,
"AGAINST the Sale."

That said election shall be held at the following places with the follow-

SECTION 5.
That the polls shall be kept open from seven o'clock A. M. until
seven o'clock P. M., and that due return shall be made to the City Coun-
cil showing the number of votes cast for the sale of the golf course
property and the number of votes cast against the sale of the golf course
property, respectively.
SECTION 6.
That in the event a majority of the qualiried voters of the City
of Fort Worth voting at said election favor the sale of the golf course
property, the City Council of said City shall authorize the Mayor to exe-
cute and deliver a proper deed of conveyance and to provide for the sale
of said golf course property to the said Texas Christian University for
a total consideration of Sixty-five Hundred Dollars ($6,500.00) per acre,
payable in cash.
SECTION 7.
That the City Secretary shall furnish election officials said ballots,
together with any other forms or blanks in accordance with the Constitu-
tion and laws of the State of Texas.
SECTION 8.
That this ordinance shall constitute the election order for such
special election, a substantial copy of which shall serve as the notice
of election required under the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas.
SECTION 9.
That the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause
notice of said election to be given by posting a substantial copy of the
election order in each of the election precincts of said City and also
at the City Hall., and that the notice of said election shall also be
published on the same day in each of tao successive weeks in a newspaper
of general circulation published within said City, the date of the first
publication to be not less than fourteen (14) days prior to the date set
for said election, and the City Secretary shall see that proper publication
is made and proper notice of this election is given in full conformity
with the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas applicable thereto.
SECTION 10.
That the way and manner of holding this election, the notice to be
given therefor, the polling places, the personnel of the officers who
are to hold same, and all details connected with the holding of the elec-
tion shall be determined and arranged by the City Secretary; that the
proper notice and publication of this notice, proclamation and ordinance
shall only be cumulative of and in addition to the statutory notice of
such election as herein provided; and that an emission or irregularity
in the publication of such notice and proclamation or in the signing of
same shall not in any way affect or invalidate such election.
SECTION 11.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and ef-
fect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this the 18th day of August, A. D. 1961, at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas.
