AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT: AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVE—
MENTS OF GRANBURY ROAD FROM THE EAST LINE OF TRAIL
LAKE DRIVE TO 575 FEET NORTHEAST OF COCKRELL AVENUE
IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZED ITS
EXECUTION: AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO
PREPARE ESTMTES
WHEREAS, by Ordinance Nos. 4386 and 4387 passed and approved by the City
Council of the City of Fort Worth, the City Council determined the necessity for
and ordered the improvement of a portion of the following street, to-wit:
GRANBURY ROAD: from the east line of Trail Lake
Drive to 575 feet northeast of
Cockrell Avenue, common line between Lots 13 &149
Block 24, Bluebonnet Hills
WHEREAS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said Ordinance, Plans
and Specifications for said improvements were submitted by the Public Works Director
and said Plans and Specifications were approved and adopted by the City Council;
and,
WHEREAS, Notice to Bidders was given as required by the City Charter;
and,
WHEREAS, the bid of Texas Bitulithic Construction Company was found to be
the lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvements, to-wits
Excavation of present streets, construction of various types of pavement with combined
curb and gutter and necessary appurtenances, all as prodded by said Plans and
Specifications;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION I
That the work of making and constmcti ng such improvements and contracts
therefore is hereby awarded to Texas Bitulithic Construction Company, at and for
the prices stated in the proposal of the said Company and as reported and recommended
by the Public Works Department. The City Manager and City Secretary are hereby
directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort Worth, Texas,
and to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said contract embracing
therein, among other things, the prices for the work.
SECTION II.
That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the
City of Fort Worth by said Contract, there is hereby appropriated out of available
funds, which have been set aside for said purpose an amount sufficient to pay said
indebtedness so incurred.
SECTION III.
That the Public Works Director of the City of Fort Worth be, and he is
hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimates of the cost
of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and provisions of
Chapter 106 of the Acts of the First called session of the Fortieth Legislature
of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105b of Vernon's Civil Statutes of
the State of Texas, Annotated, which law has been adopted as an amendment to and
made a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth.

City of Fort Worth Drive to 575' NE of Cockrell
Avenue, Project No. 94 B3-3

Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen:
On November 21, 1960, bids were received for the construction of Granbury
Road from Trail Lake Drive to 575' NE of Cockrell Avenue, in accordance
with Ordinance Nos. 4386 and 4387. The specifications provided for
alternate types of pavement which are:
Commercial :
(a) 7" Reinforced Concrete Pavement
(b) 1111 Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete Surface on
6111 Reinforced Concrete Base
The contractor will be responsible for the assessment procedure on this
project.
Two bids were submitted on the above stated basis, with the combination
of alternates as follows:

On the basis of the lowest bid submitted in the amours+ of $205,261 .00 by
Texas Bitulithic Company, the City's portion of the cost will be $ 169,061
and the property's owner's cost will be $36,200.00.

It is recommended that the City Council adapt an Ordinance awarding the
contract to Texas Bitulithic Company, and it is also recommended that the
report of the Director of Finance, stating that there are sufficient finds
available for this project, be adopted.
