City of Fort Worth, Texas Mayor and Council Communication COUNCIL ACTION: Approved on 5/22/2007 -Ordinance No. 17559-05-2007 DATE: Tuesday, May 22, 2007 LOG NAME: 06SN-07-003 REFERENCE NO.: PZ-2742 SUBJECT: Adopt an Ordinance Changing the Name of Park Drive to Centerboard Lane between Bailey- Boswell Road and Park Drive, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council adopt an ordinance changing the name of Park Drive to Centerboard Lane, north of Bailey-Boswell Road, extending approximately 2,700 feet to its terminus at Park Drive, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. DISCUSSION: The City's Master Thoroughfare Plan includes the future extension of Park Drive as a minor, east-west arterial from Boat Club Road to Old Decatur Road. A portion of Park Drive currently runs north-south. Once Park Drive is extended, two streets will have the same name. A plat, case number FS-006-238, recorded in March 2007, shows the name of the north-south portion of Park Drive changed to Centerboard Lane. The Fire Department verifies that Centerboard Lane is an acceptable street name. The applicant has requested the street name change to avoid duplicating a name for two different streets once the extension of Park Drive is completed. The applicant submitted the request for street name change in April 2007. The Fire Department supports this street name change request. The Transportation and Public Works Department states that the cost .for changing and installing new street name signs would be $490.00. Pursuant to Texas state statute, ~a public hearing must precede the ordinance adoption of the proposed name change. Notice to affected property owners along both sides of the street being changed was mailed on May 7, 2007. A copy of the notice is attached as Exhibit B. The proposed street name change lies within COUNCIL DISTRICT 7. FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: The Finance Director certifies that this action will have no material effect on City funds.
