SUBJECT: Proposed Council- Initiated Zoning Changes for the 10300 block of
W. Cleburne Road
In March 2008, Councilmember Jordan mailed letters to affected property owners on W. Cleburne
Road regarding proposed Council- initiated zoning changes consistent with the Comprehensive
Plan. The rezoning process was initiated in July 2008. Prior to the Zoning Commission public
hearing, the property owners requested the zoning case be denied and noted an owner - initiated
rezoning case would be submitted shortly. Councilmember Jordan agreed to the property owners'
request, and the zoning case was denied by the City Council on October 7, 2008.
During the intervening months, no owner - initiated zoning case has been received. Therefore,
Councilmember Jordan mailed another letter to the affected property owners regarding the proposed
zoning changes in May 2009. No response has been received to date.
The August 4 City Council agenda will contain an M &C to initiate the zoning process for the
10300 block of W. Cleburne Road that lies east of Hulen Street and W. Cleburne Road, south of
McPherson Road, and west of Old Crowley Cleburne Road. The purpose of the proposed zoning
changes is to rezone vacant land to zoning classifications that are consistent with the 2009
Comprehensive Plan. For your reference, the attached PowerPoint presentation shows the future land
use from the 2009 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning, and the proposed zoning.
The public hearings for the rezoning of these properties would be held on September 9, 2009, at the
Zoning Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting of October 13.
If you have any questions, please contact Dana Burghdoff, Deputy Planning and Development
Director, at 817- 392 -8018.
