HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 9082INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS To the Mayor and Members of the City Council No. 9082 July 14, 2009 Page 1 of 2 SUBJECT: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act — Weekly Update The purpose of this report is to provide the City Council with regular updates regarding the efforts of the City of Fort Worth and its regional partners to successfully apply for and secure grant funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The ARRA Community Task Force will continue to meet twice each month to share information about possible funding resources. On July 8, representatives from City departments who will be administering the federal grants heard presentations from the Human Resources Department and the Grant Accounting and Purchasing Divisions of the Finance Department to help ensure timely and accurate compliance with city policies and general federal regulations. A second meeting, scheduled for July 22, will focus on federal reporting requirements specific to ARRA grants. In addition, a representative from Internal Audit will instruct participants on how to avoid common errors. The following new information will be posted on the city's website by Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Community Affairs City of Fort Weattmtzation Funds weatherization- related improvements $13,710,235.00 Worth Assistance for owner - occupied homes in Fort Worth and Housing and Program Grant Tarrant County. Eligibility requirements include Economic U.S. Dept of Energy household income at or below 200% of federal Development to Texas Dept. of poverty. Department Housing and Community Affairs The following information will be deleted from the website because the funding was provided by the 2008 stimulus program and will not be tracked with the 2009 ARRA program. City of Fort Community Funds provide for infrastructure in low to $1,769,412.00 Worth Development Block moderate income areas. Housing and Grant - R (CDBG); U.S. Economic Dept of Horsing and Development Urban Development Department City of Fort Edward Byrne City of Fort Worth administers this grant for 22 $4,140,165.00 Worth Police Memorial Justice Tarrant County governmental entities. The Department Assistance Grant City's portion is $1,723,086, and funds the Formula Program U.S. purchase of equipment such as hand -held Dept. of Justice ticket writing equipment, automated field training devices, driving simulators, recording ui and cell phone locating device. With the updated information, a summary of the total dollar amount of applications submitted or approved by City Council is listed below.
