HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 9078INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 907?
During the week • June 8, 200• the City of Fort Worth was subject to severe storms. Follo I
win
these storms, City Staff were dispatched to assess the damage resulting from that night's high
winds and storms. A "wind damage" script was also activated in the solid waste customer call
center to allow staff to track damage request in near real time. Information obtained from direc
field observations and customer calls were fed into the City's Geographical Information Syste
(GIS) for evaluation. Although the winds generated • the storms were severe, the resulting
damage was not wide spread but there was some localized damage of trees.
Based on available data and conditions that exist in the field, external effort is not warranted to
provide for the collection • storm debris.
Most • the material will be managed through the existing weekly yard waste program with larger
branches, stumps, and fence panels being collected during the monthly bulk collection week.
Residents need to cut material to conform to collection standard, less than four (4) inches in
diameter and eight (8) feet in length. Material too large for collection by the City • its contractors,
such as root balls and large limbs, must be managed • the resident and their private contractors.
No extended delay is anticipated as a result of this collection. This information is being placed on
the City's web site and in the City Page.
