HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 9052I I Ll IQ V "TA *01 mo Congress has authorized additional Community Development Block (CDBG) funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. These funds are known as CGBG-R funds. Congress appropriated one billion for approximately 1200 state and local governments to invest in their own community development priorities. The city of Fort Worth has been informed that it will receive $1,769,412 in CDBG-R funds. These funds can be used for a housing and community development projects that are ready, such as infrastructure and public facilities. Staff recommends using these funds to install ADA ramps throughout the city with emphasis • locations adjacent to bus routes. In order to begin the process to receive these funds, staff recommends the following process: • Publish the required 7-day comment period notice in the city's official newspaper and web site. The comment period will be held from May 20 through May 27, 2009. • Hold a public hearing on the proposed use at the May 26, 2009, City Council meeting • Consider the M&C to receive these funds at the June 2, 2009, City Council Meeting • Submit a application to HUD to receive the funds on • before June 5, 2009.
