Community groups throughout the City of Fort Worth are eligible to apply for a public art project. Aimed at reinforcing the unique strength and character of neighborhoods throughout the city, this application process makes it possible for community groups to nominate public art projects of neighborhood significance for a city -owned site, such as a park, library, community center or street, as recommended in the Council- adopted Fort Worth Public Art Master Plan (M &C G- 14087, September 30, 2003). The Fort Worth Art Commission will evaluate and recommend two projects with budgets of up to $50,000.00 each through a competitive process open to community groups, neighborhood associations, and nonprofit organizations of at least ten people. The source of funding for this initiative is the Specially- Funded Capital Projects Fund (derived from the Water Department's annual 2% allocation based upon their budgeted cash - funded capital projects). The application deadline is May 1, 2009. There will be three application workshops, for interested community members to learn more about this initiative and the application requirements. These workshops are free and open to the public. The same information will be presented at each workshop and interested parties need only attend one.
