SUBJECT: Proposed Council - Initiated Zoning Changes for the 8100 - 8400
to" blocks of W. Cleburne Road
The October 7 City Council agenda will contain an M &C to initiate the zoning process for the
8100 - 8400 blocks of W. Cleburne Road, which lie east of Hulen Street, south of Columbus Trail,
and north of Risinger Road. The purpose of the proposed zoning changes is to rezone vacant land
and a Crowley ISD school under construction to zoning classifications that are consistent with the
2008 Comprehensive Plan. For your reference, the attached PowerPoint presentation shows the
future land use from the 2008 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning, and the proposed zoning.
Councilmember Jordan mailed letters to the affected property owners regarding the proposed zoning
changes in March 2008. The properties have since been sold to new owners, including Crowley ISD,
and the new affected property owners have been contacted regarding the proposed zoning changes.
No opposition has been expressed to date.
The public hearings for the rezoning of these properties would be held on November 12, 2008, at the
Zoning Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting of December 2.
