The purpose of the proposed zoning changes is to rezone vacant land to zoning districts that are consistent with the 2008 Comprehensive Plan. The site proposed for "CF" Community Facilities zoning is owned by Crowley ISD and is designed as institutional, since the school district plans a large school complex. The site proposed for "A -5" One- Family zoning is owned by a private investor and is designed as private open space, since the land lies completely in a floodplain. For your reference, the attached PowerPoint presentation shows the future land use from the 2008 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning, and the proposed zoning. Councilmember Jordan mailed letters to the affected property owners regarding the proposed zoning changes in March 2008. No opposition has been expressed to date. The public hearings for the rezoning of these properties would be held on November 12, 2008, at the Zoning Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting of December 2.
