The owners of property abutting both sides of the platted location of Hulen
Street between Wellesley Avenue and Bonnell Street have requested that the
street be d osed to conform with the realignment of Hulen in this area and to
permit more desirable use of the property. A map showing the Hulen realignment,:
scheduled in the 1964 Capital Improvement Program (CIP A-89-90), and the pro-
posed closing is attached.
Private utility companies and the Public Works, Traffic Engineering, Water, and
City, Planning Departments have no objection to closing the street, subject to
the following conditions:
1) That right-of-way is retained for realignment of Hulen Street, Fletcher
Avenue, extension of the existing east-west alley south of Wellesley
Avenue to intersect the new alignment of Hulen Street, and for an outlet
north to Fletcher Avenue for the east-west alley south of Fletcher Street;
and,
2) That easements are retained for existing operation and maintenance of any
and all existing utilities including storm drain, telephone, electric and
signal light circuits.
Texas Electric Service Company reports that all owners of private property ad-
jacent to the portion of Hulen Street to be closed have executed easements to
the electric utility permitting the continued location of existing lines. The
utility requests that the City of Fort Worth, which owns a small triangular
tract, formerly a part of Lot 1 in Block 4, Sunset Heights Addition, on the
east side of old Hulen Street, also grant an easement to the utility for an
existing electric distribution line.
The City Plan Commission has reviewed the request and recommends that the City
Council adopt an ordinance closing the street as proposed, subject to the con-
ditions stated herein, and that the Mayor be authorized to grant an easement
to the Texas Electric Service Company for an existing electric distribution
line now installed on the triangular parcel of City property located in Block
4 of the Sunset Heights Addition.
