—
Boswell Dairies, the owner of all property abutting West Broadway Avenue be-
tween the west line of Bradner Avenue and the east line of South Lake Street,
has requested that this portion of West Broadway be closed to permit expan-
sion of dairy facilities, now located on either side of West Broadway. A
map showing the proposed street closing is attached.
Dairy officials have contacted property owners in a four-block area and have
presented signed statements from a majority agreeing with the proposed clos-
ing. No objections have been received by the City from any property owner in
the area.
The private utility companies, .Public Works, Water, and Traffic Engineering
Departments, have reviewed the request and do not object to closing the
street, provided all existing utilities are relocated or reinforced prior
to construction, and a storm drain is extended at the expense of Boswell
Dairies. The Dairy has agreed to bear the cost of all community facility
adjustments necessary to the closing, and that easements will be in force
until relocations are completed.
On February 12, 1964, the City Plan Commission reviewed the request and
recommended that City Council adapt an ordinance abandoning West Broadway
as requested, subject to the conditions stated herein.
