HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012/08/07-Minutes-City Council-Executive SessionCITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION AUGUST 7, 2012 After proper notice given pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Mayor Price adjourned the Council meeting of the Fort Worth City Council at 5:39 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, to convene into the Special City Council Meeting for the closed Executive Session in the Pre - Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building. Present: Mayor Betsy Price Mayor Pro tem W. B. "Zim" Zimmerman, District 3 Council Member Salvador Espino, District 2 Council Member Daniel Scarth, District 4 Council Member Frank Moss, District 5 (left meeting at 12:30 p.m.) Council Member Jungus Jordan, District 6 Council Member Dennis Shingleton, District 7 Council Member Kelly Allen Gray, District 8 (left meeting at 12:30 p.m.) Absent: Council Member Joel Burns, District 9 Staff Present: Tom Higgins, City Manager Sarah Fullenwider, City Attorney Mary J. Kayser, City Secretary Fernando Costa, Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis, Assistant City Manager Charles Daniels, Assistant City Manager Chief Jeffrey Halstead, Police Department Peter Vaky, Deputy City Attorney Gerald Pruitt, Assistant City Attorney Jessica Sangsvang, Assistant City Attorney I Laetitia Brown, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Dana Burghdoff, Assistant Director of Planning Charlene Sanders, Assistant City Attorney I1 With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Fort Worth City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 5:39 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, in the Pre - Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building to discuss matters pertaining to the following: CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 7, 2012 PAGE 2 of 2 1. Seek the advice of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other matters that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules and as authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code: a. Legal issues related to the Centennial Panther Badge; b. Legal issues related to the City's Ethics Code; c. Legal issues related to redistricting; and d. Legal issues concerning any item listed on today's City Council meeting agendas. 2. Deliberate the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property in accordance with Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. Deliberation in an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party; and 3. Deliberate economic development negotiations as authorized by Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code; and 4. Deliberate the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of security personnel or devices, in accordance with Section 551.076 of the Texas Government Code. There was no formal action taken by the City Council on the items discussed during the Executive Session and with no further business to be conducted, Mayor Price adjourned the meeting at 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012.
