This re- quest is made to eliminate a hazardous railroad crossing and to permit the expansion of existing manufacturing facilities. Private utility companies and City Departments have reviewed the request and do not object to the proposed vacation, provided easements are reserved for existing telephone and water utility facilities. The Public Works Department also requested that a turn-around be provided at the south end of Maine Street which will dead-end at the railroad. The City Plan Commission has reviewed the proposed closing and recommends adoption of an ordinance that has been prepared vacating the street, subject to retaining an easement for existing utilities and that the applicant pro- vide adequate space for vehicles to turn around at the dead-end. Lennox has agreed to provide the necessary turn around facilities. City Council action on the Plan Commission recommendation closing Maxine Street, subject to retention of easements and providing turn around facilities, is requested.
