HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2525 r ORDINANCE NO ORDINANCE LETTING CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVMPWT OF A PORTION OF NORTH41 ,3T TWENTY-FIFTH STREET, FLORENCE STREET, AND EAST SECOND STREET, IN THE CITY OF FORT 'NORTH, TFKAS, AND AUTHORI7ING ITS EXECUTION; MAKING APPROPRIATION FOR THE INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED THEREBY; AND DIRECTING THE CITY F,NGINFER TO PREPARE ESTD%TES. WHEREAS, by Ordinances passed and approved by the City Council of the City of Fort North, the City determined the necessity for and ordered the improve- ne nt of portions of Northwest Twenty-Fifth Street, Florence Street, and East Second Street, in the City of Fort ['forth, to wit: NORTF MT TWENTY-FIFTH STREET, from the south line of Macie Avenue to the south line of kdon Street, by Ordi- nance No. 2468 passed and approved on first day of October, 1947, FLORENCE STREET, from the northerly line of Nest Weather- ford Street to the southerly line of West Belknap street, by Ordinance No. 2413 passed and approved on the 21st day of May, 1947t EAST SECOND STREE7, from the westerly line of Elm-Street to the easterly line of Calhoun Street, save anql except the intersection of Jones Street, by Ordinance 2368 passed and approved on the 30th day of November, 19464 and: VJHERF.AS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said Ordinan- ces, plans and specifications for said improvements were submitted by the City Engineer and said plans and specifications were approved and adopted by the City Council; and, WHFREAS, notice to bidders was given as required by the City Charter; and, WHEREAS, the bid of Brawn and Root, Incorporated, of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, was found to be the lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvements, to wit, excavating; present streets, placing combined concrete curb and gutter, and, on Northwest Twenty-Fifth Street paving with 4" Foundation Course, 31" Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete Base and 11" Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete Surface; on Florence Street and East Second Street paving with 2" Foundation Course, 611 Reinforced Concrete Base and *1 Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete Surface, and on East Second Street placing Rein- forced Concrete Sub-Base, Ballast, and 9" Reinforced Concrete Surface for the space occupied by the Railroads and two feet outside of the rails, together with incidentals and appurtenances, all as provided by said plans and specifi- cations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION It That the work of making and constructing such improvements and contract therefor is hereby let to Brown and Root, Incorporated, at and for the prices stated in the proposal of said Company and as reported and recommended by the Department of Public Works. The Mayor and City Secretary are hereby directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said contract embraq- ing therein, among other things, the prices for the work. SECTION 24 That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the City of Fort Worth by said contract, there is hereby appropriated out of available funds which have been set aside for said purpose, an amount sufficient to pay said indebtedness so incurred. SECTION 3. That the City Engineer of the City of Fort Worth be and he is hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimated of cost of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and provisions of Chap- ter 108 of the Acts of the First Called Session of the Fortieth Legislature of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105b of Vernon's Civil Statutes of the St¢te of Texas, Annotated, which law has been adopted as an amendment to and made a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth.
