The purpose of the proposed zoning changes is to rezone single family residential property to zoning classifications that reflect the future land use plan and prevailing lot sizes. For your reference, the attached PowerPoint presentation shows the future land use from the 2008 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning, and the proposed zoning. Council Member Moss would like to initiate rezoning of these areas in response to neighborhood concerns. An informational meeting for the Fairhaven neighborhood was held on July 10, 2008, which was attended by area residents and staff. At this meeting, the residents expressed support for the proposed zoning changes. No opposition has been noted to date. The public hearings for the rezoning of these properties would be held on September 10, 2008, at the Zoning Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting of October 14.
