HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 20320-08-2012Ordinance No. 20320 -08 -2012 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT UP TO $8,950.00, SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS FROM THE FORT WORTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING THE FORT WORTH AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM AT COMO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR THE 2012 — 2013 SCHOOL YEAR; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2011- 2012 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount up to $8,950.00, subject to receipt of additional grant funds from the Fort Worth Independent School District, for the purpose of operating the Fort Worth After School Program at Como Elementary School for the 2012 — 2013 school year. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 19911-09-2011 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption. Authorize the acceptance of additional grant funds from the Fort Worth Independent School District in the amount up to $8,950.00 for operation of the Fort Worth After School Program at Como Elementary School for the 2012 -2013 school year; 2. Authorize execution of a related Agreement with the Fort Worth Independent School District for the total amount of the award; and 3. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount up to $8,950.00, subject to receipt of the grant funds. DISCUSSION: On June 5, 2012, the City Council approved the execution of an Agreement with the Fort Worth Independent School District in the amount up to $50,076.00 for the operation of an After - School Program at Como Elementary School (M &C C- 25640). The After - School Program serves as a juvenile crime prevention measure for participants. The Parks and Community Services Department has been operating the Como Elementary School After - School Program since 2000. On June 19, 2012, the City received notice that the grant was increased by an additional amount up to $8,950.00 for a total amount of $59,026.00. Funds will be reimbursed based on actual expenditures, and the Agreement term runs from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 and encompass the entire 2012 -2013 school year. This program is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7. FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION: The Financial Management Services Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, of the Grants Fund.
