AIL_ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT ALL DOGS WITHIN
THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, BE VACCINATED
AGAINST RABIES, OR THAT THOSE DOGS THAT ARE
NOT VACCINATED BE AT ALL TIMES INEPT SECURELY
AND SAFELY MUZZLED, AND FIXING A PENALTY FOR
THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TEXAS:
Section 1.
It shall be unlawful for any person who owns or who is
in charge or in control of any dog to keep or knowingly to permit
said dog within the limits of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, with-
out first having said dog vaccinated, and it shall be the duty
of every such person owning or having charge or control of any
dog to have said dog vaccinated annually thereafter against rabies;
or, if said dog is not vaccinated, it shall be unlawful for any
person who owns or has charge or control of such dog that has not
been vaccinated as above provided to keep or knowingly to permit
said dog within the limits of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, with-
out at all times keeping said dog safely and securely muzzled so
as to prevent said dog from biting any person or animal.
Section 2.
If any person who owns or has charge or control of a
dog within the City of Fort Worth, Texas, has said dog vaccinated
by a veterinarian who is duly licensed as such under the laws of
the State of Texas, upon proof of such vaccination being made by
presentation of a proper certificate to the city health officer,
the person owning or having charge or control of said dog shall
be issued a metal tag to be worn on the collar of said dog show-
ing that said dog has been vaccinated, and shall be issued a cer-
tificate showing the date of said vaccination against rabies in-
fection, which certificate shall be in force for one year from
that date.
Section 3.
Each and every dog in the City of Fort Worth not so vac-
cinated must be at all times securely muzzled so as to prevent
said dog from biting any persons or animals, the muzzle used to
be of a type approved by the chief of police of the City of Fort
Worth, Texas, and said-muzzle must be worn upon and over the mouth
of said dog at all times.
Section 4.
Should any dog be found within the limits of the City
of Fort Worth, Texas, after the publication of this ordinance,
without said tag showing rabies vaccination or without muzzle,
as hereinabove provided, said dog shall be immediately taken in-
to custody, and unless the owner or person in charge or in con-
trol of said dog can satisfactorily show by certificate that said
dog has been vaccinated against rabies as hereinabove provided,
said dog shall be killed in the most humane manner possible, and
the person owning or in charge or control of said dog shall-be
proceeded against by complaint filed in the Corporation Court of
the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and, upon conviction of violating
the provisions of this ordinance, shall be fined in any sum of
money not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00).
Section 5.
This ordinance shall be, and it is hereby declared to
be, cumulative of all other ordinances of the City of Fort Worth
affecting the regulation of dogs, and shall not operate to repeal
or affect any such ordinance or ordinances, except in so far as
the provisions of such ordinances are inconsistent or in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance, in which instance or in-
stances those provisions shall be, and they are hereby, repealed.
Section 6.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after the date of its passage and publication as required
by law.
