Honorable Mayor and Res Closing of Paradise-
Members of the City Council
City of Fort Worth
Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen:
On August 23, 1957, the City of Fort Worth entered •.into a contract
(No. 3723) with the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad .Company for
IN the construction of an underpass on Sylvania Avenge. The Railroad agreed
to participate in 20 per cent of the project cost with the provision that
the City would pass the necessary ordinance closing Paradise Street across
their right-of-way. Paradise Street is located one block east of Sylvania
Avenue end the existing crossing is dangerous because of the approach
grades of Paradise Street. Traffic circulation will not be adversely
affected by the blosing of this street as Sylvania Avenue has now been
completed and is open to traffic.
The City Planning, Public Works, and Traffic Engineering Departments
recommendf_'.that City Council adopt an ordinance closing Paradise Street
from the north line of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad
right-of-way to the south line of the railroad right-of-way in accordance
with Contract No. 3723.
Respectfully submitted,
I.
