HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 8898INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS To the Mayor and Members of the City Council November 27, 2007 Page 1 of 1 SUBJECT: Proposed Council- Initiated Zoning Changes for the South Hemphill Heights Neighborhood The November 6 City Council agenda contains an M &C to initiate the zoning process for the South Hemphill Heights Neighborhood, west of Hemphill Street and south of Elizabeth Boulevard/Page Street. The purpose of the proposed zoning changes is to rezone single family residential property into zoning classifications that reflect the prevailing land use. For your reference, the attached PowerPoint presentation shows the future land use from the 2007 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning and the proposed zoning. Council Member Davis would like to initiate rezoning of these areas in response to neighborhood concerns. The South Hemphill Heights Neighborhood Association held an informational meeting on October 30, 2007, which was attended by approximately 20 residents and staff At this meeting, the residents expressed support for the proposed zoning changes. The public hearings for the rezoning of these properties would be held on January 9, 2008, at the Zoning Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting of February 5.
