SUBJECT: Proposed Council - Initiated Zoning Changes for the
White Lake Hills Neighborhood
The November 6 City Council agenda contains an M &C to initiate the zoning process for the White
Lake Hills Neighborhood, east of Oakland Drive and north of Bridge Street. The purpose of the
proposed zoning changes is to rezone single family residential property into zoning classifications that
reflect the prevailing lot sizes. For your reference, the attached PowerPoint presentation shows the
future land use from the 2007 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning and the proposed zoning.
Councilmember Scarth would like to initiate rezoning of these areas in response to neighborhood
concerns.
The White Lake Hills Neighborhood Association held an informational meeting on October 8, 2007,
which was attended by Councilmember Scarth, approximately 65 residents and staff. At this meeting,
the residents expressed full support for the proposed zoning changes.
The public hearings for the rezoning of these properties would be December 12 at the Zoning
Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting of January 8.
