SUBJECT: Proposed Council - Initiated Zoning Changes for the
for, Oakhurst Neighborhood
The November 6 City Council agenda contains an M &C to initiate the zoning process for portions of
the Oakhurst Neighborhood, west of Oakhurst Scenic Drive and predominantly north of Yucca
Avenue. The purpose of the proposed zoning changes is to rezone single family residential property
into zoning classifications that reflect the prevailing lot sizes. For your reference, the attached
PowerPoint presentation shows the future land use from the 2007 Comprehensive Plan, the current
zoning and the proposed zoning. Councilmember Espino would like to initiate rezoning of these areas
in response to neighborhood concerns.
The Oakhurst Neighborhood Association held an informational meeting on October 11, 2007, which
was attended by Councilmember Espino, approximately 35 residents and staff. At this meeting, the
residents expressed support for the proposed zoning changes.
The public hearings for the rezoning of these properties would be held on December 12 at the Zoning
Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting of December 18.
Should you have any questions, please contact Dana Burghdoff, Deputy Planning and Development
Director, at 817 - 392 -8018.
