HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 8872INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 8872 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council September 4, 2007 y Page 1 of 1 SUBJECT: City Staff Employed by the Retirement Department Separating from the City of Fort Worth On Wednesday, August 29, 2007, the Retirement Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve an amendment to the rules governing the Retirement Fund. This amendment resulted in making the Executive Director and any current and future staff the Executive Director hires employees of the Retirement Fund. By statute, the rule became effective immediately after passage. Ms. Ryerson informed the Board she has a transition plan and would be meeting with the Personnel Committee to lay out the transition plan. The Executive Director of the Retirement Office informed the City's Human Resources Director that the current employees of the Retirement Office will terminate City employment effective Friday, August 31, 2007. According to Retirement Office management, all employees were asked if they wanted to become Fund employees and were made aware of the date their employment with the City of Fort Worth would terminate. qW�s has been done for other employees who have been terminated due to services being transferred to an entity outside of the City of Fort Worth, Retirement Office employees are being afforded layoff rights as provided under the City's layoff policy.
