'% 14 3 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING, ACCEPTING, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO PARAGRAPH 6 OF THE CONTRACT AND AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DALLAS, TEXAS, AND THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, DATED AND EFFECTIVE AS OF APRIL 15, 1968, THROUGH WHICH THE CITIES OF DALLAS AND FORT WORTH CONTINUED, EXPANDED AND FURTHER DEFINED THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE DALLAS - FORT WORTH REGIONAL AIRPORT BOARD THERETOFORE CREATED, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A QUORUM OF THE MEMBERS OF THE OPERATING BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE DALLAS -FORT WORTH REGIONAL AIRPORT SHALL BE ANY SEVEN (7) MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE (1) MEMBER APPOINTED TO PLACE NO. 2, 3, 7 OR 8; PROVIDING THAT EXCEPT FOR THE AMENDMENT APPROVED AND ACCEPTED HEREUNDER, THE SAID CONTRACT AND AGREEMENT SHALL CONTINUE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND NAMING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Fort Worth hereby approves and accepts, and authorizes and directs the City Manager to execute that certain Amendment to Paragraph 6, of the Contract and Agreement Between the City of Dallas, Texas, and the City of Fort Worth, Texas, dated and effective as of April 15, 1968, through which the Cities of Dallas and Fort Worth continued, expanded and further defined the powers and duties of the Dallas -Fort Worth Regional Airport Board theretofore created, said Amendment to be in the form submitted to and considered at this meeting and filed by the City Secretary among the minutes and permanent records of the City of Fort Worth. SECTION 2. That except for the Amendment approved and accepted here- under, the said Contract and Agreement shall continue in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That the matter of providing for an appropriate quorum of members of the operating Board of Directors for the Dallas - Fort Worth Regional Airport is a matter of urgent public necessity; and accordingly, this Ordinance is adopted for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the City and citizens of Fort Worth, and as such constitutes an emergency measure and shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption by the City Council, and it is so ordained. APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY: City Attoxne ADOPTED: fi x y, 9 71 EFFECTIVE: &� - City of Fort Worth, Texas FILE Mayor and Council Communication HERCHERS S AII_I FF SMITH JONES P TER SEN DATE REFERENCE SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing a Contract PAGE NUMBER I Amendment Relating to Quorum 7/24179 G -4257 Requirement of the Dallas /Fort or Worth Regional Airport Board On July 10, 1979, the Dallas /Fort Worth Regional Airport Board passed a resolu- tion (copy attached) requesting that the City of Dallas and the City of Fort Worth amend the present contract and agreement (City Secretary Contract Noe 6014) with regard to quorum requirements for board meetings. The present requirement is that a minimum of eight board members be present to conduct official business, and it is proposed that the contract and amendment be changed so that seven members will constitute a quorum, with the stipulation that at least one of the seven members be from Fort Worth.
