As a part of our implementation plan, staff is recommending the formation of three committees to direct and assist with the development of the bridge replacement project: a steering committee, a technical committee, and a stakeholders committee. A listing of the proposed committees' membership is attached. The steering committee will guide the overall project, including setting boundaries for the enhancements and upgrades to the replacement structure. This committee will be comprised of council members, or their designee(s), and senior City staff. The technical committee will be charged with determining the basic structure of the bridge with respect to functionality. This committee W11 be responsible for determining the number of lanes on the bridge, sidewalk widths, and the lane accommodations for future light -rail or trolley across the bridge. Members of this committee will include City staff and technical experts from organizations with a vested interest in the bridge. The stakeholders committee will be comprised of representatives from the various groups in the vicinity of the bridge, such as neighborhood and business associations. This committee will provide community input on the project and will make design or enhancement selections from options previously approved by the steering committee, such as preferred designs or aesthetic upgrades. We also plan on holding open public meetings to seek broad input from any interested community members. Throughout the project development, TPW staff will coordinate closely with the City's Historic Preservation Officer and Historic Fort Worth to ensure the design of the new structure respects the significance of the existing bridge and to incorporate historical features to the extent that is practical. Additionally, staff will coordinate with the Fort Worth Public Art Commission to engage an artist early in project development to utilize the public art funds dedicated to this project in the Long -Range Public Art Master Plan. We will report progress to the full Council periodically. 1, Charles R.
