TO City ADOPTED AND EFFECTIVE: June 12.2007 City of Fort Worth, Texas Mayor and Council Communication COUNCIL ACTION: Approved on 6/12/2007 -Ordinance No. 17603-06-2007 DATE: Tuesday, June 12, 2007 LOG NAME: 30LINDALANE474 REFERENCE NO.: **C-22178 SUBJECT: Authorize Execution of an Engineering Agreement with Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation, for Linda Lane Drainage Improvements, Dottie Lynn Parkway Culvert Improvements and Oakridge Terrace Drainage Improvements (Project No. 00474) and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Authorize the transfer of $136,171 from the Storm Water Utility Fund to the Storm Water Capital Projects Fund; 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Storm Water Capital Projects Fund in the amount of $136,171; and 3. Authorize the City Manager to execute an engineering agreement with Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation the amount of $97,138 for Linda Lane Drainage Improvements, Dottie Lynn Parkway Culvert Improvements and Oakridge Terrace Drainage Improvements. DISCUSSION: The Storm Water Management Program was established to reduce flooding in Fort Worth, preserve streams, minimize water pollution and to operate the storm water system in a more effective manner to fully comply with state and federal regulatory requirements. This will be accomplished by infrastructure reconstruction and system maintenance, master planning, enhanced development review, and increased public education and outreach. This project addresses drainage improvements in three locations: Linda Lane, Dottie Lynn Parkway and Oakridge Terrace. At Linda Lane, an unmapped and undersized mid-block storm drain creates residential flooding. At Oakridge Terrace, residential flooding has been documented along Sahara and Rickee. Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation, proposes to prepare plans and specifications for the necessary drainage improvements at the locations identified above for a lump sum fee of $97,138. City staff considers this to be fair and reasonable for the scope of services proposed. In addition to the contract amount, $39,033 is required by the Engineering Department for project management. This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 8, Mapsco, 92/A/E. M/WBE -Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation is in compliance with the City's M/1/VBE Ordinance by committing to 19 percent M/WBE participation. The City's goal on this project is 19 percent.
