JT,
Attached is Bean's quote to me for the change order items for the advanced warning items for the signals at 377. 1 need
to add 10%for mark-up. I gave them approval to move forward so we can cut down on wait time. I hope that was ok. I
figured this is something we have to have. Please add this value plus 10%to the upcoming change order.

Tai/JT,
The highlighted points below from the Traffic Side are two(2) of the major points of discussion that need to be worked
out prior to installing the new traffic cabin in operation—the new cabin and preemption have to be tested in our Signal
Shop prior to being installed in the field. They are copied here for comment if anything else needs to be added.

Hello Tai,
Per our conversation, the remaining work required at Mt Gilead/US 377 is as follows:
Railroad Side
• The UPRR side is all installed, inspected, and the interconnection wires are terminated inside the
interconnection terminal box on the outside of UP's bungalow. So UPRR is pretty much all set and just needs to
be notified when the interconnection cutover needs to be connected and tested. I have the appropriate
2
documentation for the wire coloring of the interconnection so that we'll know where to land each wire when
terminating the interconnection.
Traffic Side
• The site has two sets of traffic poles installed for each direction of travel. One set being the newly installed
poles with covered/bagged traffic heads, and the other being the existing poles in operation now. The existing
poles and existing traffic cabinet need to be pulled down and the new system needs to be placed into operation.
• The new traffic cabinet did not have the Wavetronix landed, and was missing a traffic controller unit. TXDOT
may want to bench test all the operations of the traffic controller in their shop before deploying the unit to the
field for operation.
• The new 20 conductor interconnection cable is pulled into the new traffic cabinet and is coiled in the foundation
base, ready to be terminated.
• The preemption interface installed at this location appears to be a standard relay panel. I'm not sure if it
supports all of the circuitry that UPRR is giving. Perhaps this location is receiving an RPS, but if not,we need to
make sure that we do have circuits in place to work with all of the requested interconnection circuits. For
example, this site is flagged to utilize the Traffic Signal Health function on the railroad side,so this means that
the traffic side will need to deliver the 12vDC signal to utilize this circuit.
• The intersection needs all of the appropriate railroad signage and pavement markings installed.
• The crossing surface had a large grade change across the railroad crossing panels,so the pavement will need to
be smoothed out leading up to the crossing surface.J.T.took some photos of this and mentioned that it is being
reviewed for how much pavement must be removed before pouring the new concrete so that the crossing
surface is at an acceptable grade.
Let me know if you need any further detail or insight on the above mentioned items.
Thanks,
Matthew Deiss, E.I.T.

This is the invoice from the Riotech people that we meet with a couple weeks ago for the components we had to

Stop line markings are required behind railroad gates.
RxR pavement markings are technically required for all directions towards the tracks because the pavement
