D. 1937, UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER XXI OF THE CHARTER OF SAID CITY FOR THE PLit POST. OF SUH2ITTING FOR THE DETMMINATION OF SAID VOTERS QUESTIONS AS TO F1f3 MM OR NOT APPROPRIATE ORDINANCES SHOULD BE PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL GRANTING INCREASES IN SALARIES, ELECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 1938, TO ALL IJ[LM- BERS OF THE FIRE MPARTIMT, POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ALL OTHER MCPARTLIMTS OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH SUFFICIENT TO RESTORE THE SALARIES PREVAIL- ING PRIOR TO THE GIMIMAL REDUCTION IN 1931, AND TO PROVIDE SUCH TAX LEVY AS WILL BE NECESSARY TO MM SUCH ADDITIONAL OPERATING EXPENSES; AND FUR- THER PROVIDING T13 APPROZLIATE AMOUYi OF &aff THAT WILL EZ REQUIRED TO PAY SUCH INCREASED SALARIES, TOGETHER WITH THE AMOUNT OF THE NECES- SARY TAX LEVY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE: CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT NORTH, TEXAS: SECTION I. That in compliance with the provisions of Chapter XXI of the Char- ter of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and in accordance with the laws and Constitution of the State of Texas, a special election be and the same is hereby called and ordered for Friday, the third day of December, A. D. 1937, at which election all qualified voters may vote. SECTION II. At this election the following questions shall be submitted for the determination of said voters: 1. Shall the City of Fort Worth, Texas, through its City Council, effective October 1, 1938, pass an ordinance providing for the restoration of the rate of salaries paid to officers and employees of the Fire De- partment of the City of Fort North existing prior to the general reduction of salaries made in the year 1931, and providing for minimum salaries to be paid officers and employees of the Fire Department of said city, and that the,said minimum monthly salaries shall be as fol- lows: Chief of the Fire Department ;;320.00 Battalion Chief, Acting as Secretary 195.00 Assistant Chiefs each 220.00 Assistant Chief, Acting as Fire .larshal 220.00 Battalion Chiefs each 195.00 Battalion Chief, Acting as Instructor 195.00 Arson Investigator 145.00 Inspectors each 150.00 Operators each 145.00 Captains each 155.00 Lieutenants each 145.00 Privates, First Class each 135.00 Privates, Second Class each 125.00 Privates, Third Class each 115.00 Privates, Fourth Class each 105.00 Idaster Mechanic 200.00 First Assistant Mechanic 175.00 Second Assistant Mechanic 155.00 Mechanic's Helper 145.00; provided that the necessary amount of money to be raised to pay said increased salaries shall not exceed Forty- two Thousand, Six Hundred Forty-two and no/100 Dollars (W,642.00) and that the tax levy required to meet this additional expense shall not exceed Two and Sixty-two Hundredths Cents (2.64) on each One Hundred Dollars (0100.00) worth of tamable property in said city? 2. Shall the City of Fort Worth, Texas, through its City Council, effective October 1, 1938, pass an ordinance providing for the restoration of the rate of salaries paid to officers and employees of the Police Department of the City of Fort Worth existing prior to the general reduction of salaries made in the year 1931, and providing for minim— salaries to be paid officers and employees of the Police Department of said city, and that the said minimum monthly salaries shall be as follows: Chief of Police 4320.00 Captain 210.00 Lieutenant 185.00 Sergeant 155.00 Patrolman 140.00 Chief of Detective 230.00 Detective 155.00 Motorman 140.00 Secretary 125.00 Clerk 140.00 Superintendent of Identification 210.00 Assistant 175.00 Poundman 125.00 Painter 120.00; provided that the necessary amount of money to be raised to pay said increased salaries shall not exceed Thirty- five Thousand, Two Hundred Three and no/100 Dollars (435,203.00) and that the tax levy required to meet this additional expense shall not exceed Two and Seventeen Hundredths Cents (2.170) on each One Hundred Dollars (4100600) worth of taxable property in said city? 3. Shall the City of Fort Worth, Texas, through its City Council, effective October 1, 1938, pass an ordinance providing for the restoration of the rate of salaries paid to all other officers and employees of said city, except members of the Fire and .^olice Depart- ments, existing prior to the general reduction of salaries made in the year 1931, and providing for m.iniimun salaries to be paid said officers and employees of the city; pro- vided that the necessary amount of money to be raised to pay said increased salaries shall not exceed Sixty-four Thousand, Seventeen and no/100 Dollars ($64,017.00) and that the tax levy required to most this additional expense shall not exceed Three and Ninety-four fiuncl-e'3thss Teens (3.94V) on each One Hundred Dollars (4100.00) worth of taxable property in said city? 3=10Ii III. That said election shall be held under the provisions of the Char- ter of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, the Constitution and laws of said State insofar as same shall be applicable, and all qualified voters shall be allowed to vote on said propositions. SECTION V. Each proposition for the proposed raise in salaries shall be so- curately stated so that the voters shall pass upon each one of the three questions separate and apart from the others. All voters who favor the proposition to restore the salaries of the officers and employees of the Fire Department to those existing prior to the reduction in the year 1931 shall have written or printed upon their ballots "For the measure," and those opposed shall have written or printed upon their ballots the words "Against the measure." All voters who favor the proposition to restore the salaries of the officers and employees of the police Department to those existing prior to the reduction in the year 1931 shall have written or printed upon their ballots "For the measure," and those opposed shall have written or printed upon their ballots the words "Against the measure." All voters who favor the proposition to restore the salaries of all other officers and employees of the City of Fort Worth to those exist- ing prior to the reduction in the year 1931 shall have written or printed upon their ballots "For the measure," and those opposed shall have written or printed upon their ballots the words "Against the measure." SECTION VI. The way and manner of holding this special election, the notice to be given therefor, the polling places, the personnel of the officers who are to hold the same and all details connected with the holding of the election shall be determined and arranged by the City Council, and a proper notice of such matters shall be given in a proclamation by the Mayor. SECTION VII. The City Secretary is hereby ordered and directed to prepare proper ballots and stamp same "Official Ballot," on which ballots shall be printed all of the propositions hereinabove set forth. SECTION TIII. That the City Secretary shall furnish said ballots together with any other forms or blanks that may be necessary to hold said election, and the duly appointed judges shall hold said election and make their return in accordance with the Charter of the City of Fort North and the laws of the State of Texas insofar as the same are applicable. SECTION IX. A copy of this ordinance signed by the Mayor of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and attested by the City Secretary shall serve as a proper notice of said election. SEGTIO14 X. The notice of this election shall be posted in each voting pre- cinot in the City of Fort North, Texas and published as required by law. SECTION XI.
