APPROVED ASS TO FORM AND LEGALITY: City Attorney CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER Communication to Mayor and Council No. PW-1075 June 11, 1962 Honorable Mayor and Re: Proposed Closing of Shaw Members of the City Council Street from M. K. & T. City of Fort Worth Railroad to May Street Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen: Shaw Street is being paved on the assessment basis from Bryan Street to May Street. The street has never been opened to traffic west of May, where it dead-ends at the M. K. & T. railroad, approximately, 140 feet west of May Street. Studies by the Public Works and Planning Departments indicate there is no need to open this section of the street and extend it across the railroad track, especially in view of the fact that the elevation of the railroad track would not provide a desirable crossing. When the owners of the adjacent property were informed of this condition, they requested that the street be closed west of May Street. The adjacent property is zoned "J" Light Industrial, and the closing will be advantageous to industrial development. All affected parties have been contacted and are agreeable to the proposed closing. It is recommended that an Ordinance be adopted closing Shaw Street from the westerly line of Blocks 47 and 48, Ryan and Pruitt Addition, to the west line of May Street.
