HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 6843AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC. 28-1 OF CHAPTER 28, ARTICLE 1, OF THE FORT WORTH CITY CODE (1964), AS AMENDED, BY PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF ONE ALTERNATE MEMBER TO THE ZONING COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Sec. 28-1 of Chapter 28, Article I, of the Fort worth City Code (1964), as amended, be and the same is hereby amended so that said Sec. 28-1 of Chapter 28 shall hereafter be and read as follows: "Sec. 28-1. Creation and Appointment There is hereby created a Zoning Commission of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, to be composed of nine (9) qualified electors of the City of Fort worth. The city Council shall also be au- thorized to appoint one (1) qualified elector as an alternate member who shall sit as a member of the Zoning commission in the absence of one (1) or more members, The term of such alternate mem- ber shall be that for even-numbered places as specified by Sec. 28-2 hereof. It is the declared policy that the City Council will consider for appointment to the Commission as members and the alternate member only those persons who have demon- strated their civic interest, general knowledge of the community, intelligent judgment, understanding of zoning and planning, and availability to prepare for and attend meetings, and who, by reason of di- versity of their individual occupations, constitute a Commission which is broadly representative of the community." All ordinances or resolutions in conflict with the Dro- visions of this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitu- tional, such holding shall not affect the validity of the re- maining portions of this ordinance, and the remainder of this ordinance not so held to be unconstitutional shall continue Lo be in full force and effect. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained.
