performed using specially developed vacuum excavation equipment
that is non-destructive to existing facilities. If contaminated soils are
discovered during the excavation process, the ENGINEER will notify
the CITY.
ii. Investigate, evaluate, measure and record a) actual depth to top of the
utility references to a marker installed directly above the centerline of
the exposed utility structure and b) outside diameter of utility and
configuration of non-encased, multi-conduit systems.
iii. Furnish and install markers directly above the centerline of utility
structure and in each excavated test hole.
iv. Backfill around exposed facility using excavated materials. Excavations
will be backfilled and compacted in lifts. Compaction will comply with
permit requirements.
v. Provide permanent restoration of pavement within limits of original cut.

LOG NAM E:1 30121 T PART 3 REFERENCE NO..- **C.122555
SUBJECT:
Authorize Execution of' an Engineering Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates,' Inc., for Water
and' Sanitary Sewer Relocations, for State Highway 121T', Part 3, from Dirks, Road to Farm to Market
Road 1187 (City Project No.00899)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute an, engineering agreement
with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for Water and Sanitary Sewer Relocations for State Highway 121T,
Part 3, from Dirks Road to Farm to Market Road 1187.
DISCUSS10"N:
On December 8, 1998v (M&C C-17178) the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute an
Interlocal Agreement between the City, Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) and the North Texas
Tollway Authority (NT'TA) concerning the develo,pm,ent of the Southwest Parkway (SH-121T) as, a turnpike
project from Interstate H,ig,hway 3,0 (Summit Avenue) to Alta Mesa Boulevard., The agreement provided for
the City to relocate conflicting City-owned utilities, and to extend City-owned utilities to the outside boundary
of the right-of-way.
In order to expedite design and construction, the overall project was, divided into the following parts: Part 1
(from Hulen Street to Summit Avenue), Part 2, (Hulen Street, to Alta Mesa Boulevard) and Part 3 (Dirks,
Road to FM 1187). Parts, 1 and 2 are in various stages of design and construction.
This project, Part 3, consists of the preparation of plans and specifications for the necessary water/sanitary
