HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 930 RESOLUTION FILE NO. 17_3,�> A Resolutioan WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth has been a member of the Fort Worth Con- sortium for Employment and Training Programs since the inception of the Compre- hensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) , of 1973; and, WHEREAS, the Consortium membership consists of the Cities of Arlington, Euless, Fort Worth, Haltom City, and White Settlement; and, WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth and other Consortium Member Cities have approved resolutions indicating their desire to continue the Consortium Agreement in fiscal year 1983-84; and, WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Texas has designated the Fort Worth Consortium as a Service Delivery Area (SDA) for the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) programs; and, WHEREAS, the Job Training Partnership Act regulations require the esta- blishment of Private Industry Council; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF FORT WORTH: s 1. Authorizes the establishment of a seventeen (17) member Private Industry Council, and 2. Adopts the composition and appointment process outlined in the attachment, and 3. Designates the Mayor of the City of Fort Worth as signatory authority for Private Industry Council selection process. r , CITY OF FORT WON= FORT WORTH CONSORTIUM FOR EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAMS `UW PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL JOB TRAINING PARTNERSHIP ACT I. Membership - Seventeen A. Ten members appointed from the business sector: 1. Five appointments from Fort Worth 2. Two appointments from Arlington 3. One appointment from White Settlement 4. One appointment from Euless 5. One appointment from Haltom City B. Seven members appointed from the following sectors: Nww 1. Two appointments from educational institutions 2. One appointment from organized labor 3. One appointment from the State employment service 4. One appointment from rehabilitation service agencies 5. Two appointments from community based organizations II. Method of Appointment A. Fort Worth 1. Business sector a. The Fort Worth City Council shall appoint three representatives from the nominations of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. b. The Fort Worth City Council shall appoint one representative from the nominations. of the Black Chamber of Commerce. c. The Fort City Council shall appoint one representative from the nominations of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. r • 2. Community/Services Representation - Fort Worth City Council shall appoint seven representatives from the sectors listed under I.B. a. Organizations shall nominate representatives to the Fort Worth City Council. b. Consortium cities may recommend representatives to the Fort Worth City Council. B. Consortium City Members 1. The Arlington City Council shall recommend two representatives from the nominations of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce to the Fort Worth City Council for appointment. 2. The White Settlement City Council shall recommend one rep- resentative from the nominations of their respective Chamber of Commerce to the Fort Worth City Council for appointment. 3. The Euless City Council shall recommend one representative from the nomination of their respective Chamber of Commerce to the Fort Worth City Council for appointment. 400 4. The Haltom City Council shall recommend one representative from the nominations of their respective Chamber of Commerce to the Fort Worth City Council for appointment. IWAW III. Selection of Chairman The chairman for the 1983-84 Program Year of the Private Industry Council (PIC) will be selected by the Mayor of Fort Worth from among the private sector re- presentatives. v ..w
