HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 900 FME r A llesolutio*:':�_�_ WHEREAS, on January 3, 1983, the Tarrant Appraisal District notified the City of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Independent School District and Tarrant County that the 1982 taxroll contains a $300,000,000 error; and, WjiEREAS, an error of this magnitude will create substantial budgetary and/or service delivery problems for our agencies as well as for other governmental agencies in Tarrant County; and, WHEREAS, this serious error in the taxroll is but the latest in a two-year series of critical errors made by the tax appraisal district; and, WHEREAS, the tax appraisal district has been unreasonably costly to support; and, WHEREAS, the administration of the tax appraisal district repeatedly has ignored suggestions and offers of assistance from the taxing units in Tarrant County; and, WHEREAS, the tax appraisal district has been unable to produce timely or accurate tax appraisal information; and, WHEREAS, as of January 14, 1983, the tax appraisal district has failed to deliver a Final Taxroll to the taxing units in Tarrant County; and, WHEREAS, effective government and service require timely and accurate property tax appraisals: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The City Council of the City of Fort Worth, after serious deliberation, conclude that the Board of Directors of the Tarrant Appraisal District must make significant administrative improvements and introduce competent leadership into the management of the Tarrant Appraisal District with all deliberate speed.
