HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 892 A Resolution WHEREAS, the Cities of Fort Worth and Dallas have previously retained the law firm of Pepper, Hamilton and Scheetz to assist the Cities in negotiations with the Trustee of the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Company regarding the possible purchase of the rail corridor that connects the two cities; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth has previously authorized the expenditure of $10, 000 for payment for such services rendered by the said law firm; and WHEREAS, this matter continues to involve conflicts , negotiations and factual and legal questions of a magnitude which constitute ,a matter of "extraordinary importance and emergency" within the terms of Chapter VI, Section 3, of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, the assistance of Pepper, Hamilton and Scheetz has been invaluable in bringing the negotiations to their present positive status; and WHEREAS, this matter is of critical importance to the citizens of Fort Worth; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH: SECTION 1 That the law firm of Pepper, Hamilton and Scheetz be compensated for their additional services on behalf of the City of Fort Worth in representing the City on matters pertaining to the purchase of the rail corridor between Fort Worth and Dallas . SECTION 2 That Pepper, Hamilton and Scheetz shall be paid at an hourly rate of $150, such cost to be shared on a 50/50 basis by the City of Fort Worth and the City of Dallas , and that the maximum ad- ditional fee to be paid to Pepper, Hamilton and Scheetz by the City of Fort Worth shall not exceed the sum of �20, 000. SECTION 3 " That this Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage. PASSED this day of 1982 . O CITY OF FORT WORTH
