HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 890 A resolution WHEREAS, on January 12, 1982, the City Council approved M&C G-5201 retaining H. Louis Nichols as outside legal counsel to re- present the City of Fort Worth, the City plan Commission and its individual members in the pending lawsuit styled Booth Creek Investment, Inc. , and Jade West, Inc. vs. City of Fort Worth, et al, hereinafter referred to as Jade West I; and WHEREAS, at the time the City Council approved M&C G-5201, it also adopted Resolution No. 822 fixing in advance as far as prac- ticable, the sum of $7, 000 to be paid Mr. Nichols for his legal representation in Jade West I and other matters rela- ting thereto; and WHEREAS , on June 1 , 1982, the City Council approved M&C G-5320, autho- rizing the payment to Mr. Nichols of $5,432.22 out of the sum authorized originally, and leaving a balance of $1 , 567.78 authorized to pay Mr. Nichols; and WHEREAS, on August 31 , 1982, the City Council adopted M&c C-6475 and Resolution No. 875, increasing by $3 ,000 the amount authorized to pay Mr. Nichols for his services pertaining to Jade West I, ...� thereby increasing the balance on hand to $4, 567 .18; and WHEREAS, Mr. Nichols has presented to the City his statement of fees for services rendered from May 1, 1982, through October 31, 1982 , in the sum of $10,156. 94; and WHEREAS, it is necessary that an additional sum of $5,589.16 be autho- rized by resolution. to pay for services rendered through October 31 , 1982; and WHEREAS, it is estimated, as far as practicable, that there will be at least $10,000 in additional legal fees forthcoming through the time this lawsuit is tried on its merits; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS : SECTION 1 . That the compensation to be paid H.
