A Resolution
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth recognizes the need to make
transportation improvements to IH-35W, IH-30, and their intersection
commonly known as the Mixmaster, to accommodate present and future
traffic volumes; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration and the State
Department of Highways and Public Transportation have agreed upon an
alignment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council urged the State Department of Highways
and Public Transportation to utilize every reasonable cost-effective
measures available to mitigate any adverse effects on adjacent property;
and
WHEREAS, a recent study indicates that it may be Dossible to
depress the freeway without significantly adding to the adverse effect
on the movement of traffic during construction; and
WHEREAS, a recent study indicates that that depressed option
would be economically beneficial to the City; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Bolen and Mayor ProTem Newkirk met with Secretary
of Transportation, Drew Lewis, on April 19, 1982, and were assured that
Fort Worth would not lose funding by stating the City's preference for
the depressed option; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Fort Worth, Texas:
1. that the depressed option is the preferred option by the
City of Fort Worth and its duly elected officials.
