FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF I.H. 30.. (TURNPIKE) BETWEEN FORT WORTH N
AND DALLAS
WHEREAS, the Dallas-Fort Worth Turnpike was constructed as a j
toll road in 1956-57; and
WHEREAS, the revenue bonds used to construct the facility
were retired in December, 1977, and the facility
became a free road; and
WHEREAS, certain improvements are needed to the facility to
improve access on and off the freeway and to
improve traffic operation on adjacent streets; and
WHEREAS, representatives of the Fort Worth City Council,
Fort Worth City staff, Fort Worth Chamber of
Commerce, Tarrant County Commissioners Court,
Tarrant County Legislative Delegation and the
Regional Transportation Council appeared before the
State Highway and Public Transportation Commission
on June 31, 1978 to request a study of the
t Interstate 30 corridor between Fort Worth and
Dallas; and
WHEREAS, a preliminary draft of the study was completed in
April, 1979 and was transmitted to the City Manager
of the City of Fort Worth.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH
THAT:
The City of Fort Worth:
1. Supports the feasibility study with the following modifications:
a. Include a dia�ond interchange at Bentley Village Parkway;'
b. Include a westbound entrance ramp from Bridge Street to be
constructed at Blue Lake; and
C. Retain the eastbound exit ramp, east of Oakland, to Brentwood
Stair;
w. 2. Urges the Texas Highway and Public Transportation Commission to accept
the report with the requested changes as the official plan for the
development of I.H. 30 in east Fort Worth;

3. Urges the Texas Highway and Public Transportation Commission to
declare that all projects listed in the study and requested
w modifications are acceptable and desirable for advancement to project
status should funds become available and all environmental conditions
are satisfied; and
4. Requests the Texas Highway and Public Transportation Commission to
direct the Department of Highways and Public Transportation staff to
work with representatives of the local governments to advance the
modified plan to project status.
