WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is the co-owner and operator of the
Dallas/Fort Worth Airport with the City of Dallas; and,
WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Fort Worth share the ultimate
financial responsibility for the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport with the citizens
of Dallas; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth has repeatedly gone on record in support
of the concept that regularly scheduled interstate air service to and from
the Dallas/Fort Worth area must be provided through the Dallas/Fort Worth Air-
port and has passed ordinances, participated in proceedings before regulatory
agencies and otherwise made this position known to appropriate individuals
and entities; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth believes that the environmental, safety
and economic best interests of the Dallas/Fort Worth region are best served
by the provision of regularly scheduled interstate air service through the
` Dallas/Fort Worth Airport; and,
WHEREAS, regulatory agencies have ignored the position of the City of
Fort Worth and the intent of Congress with regard to the provision of regu-
larly scheduled interstate air service at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport as
opposed to other air facilities in the region; and,
WHEREAS, an amendment has been introduced in the Congress in Washington
which would prohibit interstate air service on a regularly scheduled basis
at any airport in the Dallas/Fort Worth area other than the Dallas/Fort Worth
Airport;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Fort
Worth strongly supports the adoption of this or similar legislation which
encourages the provision of regularly scheduled interstate air service through
the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport to the exclusion of other airports in the region.

AN AMENDMENT TO AIRPORT FUNDING
- LEGISLATION CURRENTLY BEING CONSIDERED BY CONGRESS
Notwithstanding any Automatic Market Entry Provisions of the Airline
Deregulation Act of 1978 or any other provision of law, no common carrier
operating in interstate commerce may perform regularly scheduled commercial
flights in interstate commerce into or from a satellite airport lying within
20 miles of a major regional airport where the major airport is operated
under the direction of a regional airport board and where the satellite air-
port is operating under the direction of a municipality and where the pro-
prietor(s) of such satellite airport and such regional airport board have
determined that the public interest and aviation safety of the region are best

served by closing said satellite airport to all commercial interstate traffic.
