WHEREAS , in Section 29 of the International Air Transportation
Competition Act of 1979 (P.L. 96-192) , also known as the "Love Field
Amendment" , Congress declared it to be consistent with the public
convenience and necessity for air carriers to provide transportation
of individuals by air on flights between Love Field, Texas , and one
or more points within the States of Louisiana , Arkansas , Oklahoma,
New Mexico , and Texas ; and
WHEREAS , the recent application made to the City of Dallas by Texas
International Airlines for space at Love Field to provide such service
and the increased air traffic by Southwest Airlines , indicate that even
with limited use of Love Field for air carrier service , problems of
congestion, noise and safety may soon require remedial action by the
City Council of the City of Dallas ; and
WHEREAS , the Dallas City Council has recently passed a resolution
supporting the Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Airport , and the City of Fort
Worth is in agreement with this position and urges the City of Dallas
to limit the use of Love Field and encourage the use of the Regional
',irport ; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FORT WORTH :
SECTION 1 .
That the Fort Worth City Council hereby expresses its undiminished
support for Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Airport , and urges all air car-
riers to concentrate their services at that Airport .
SECTION 2 .
That this Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after
its passage in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the
City of Fort Worth, and it is accordingly so resolved.
