R E S O L U T I O
..� WHEREAS, our Nation's 200th anniversary will be
commemorated in 1976; and,
WHEREAS,.one major goal of the City of Fort Worth's
Bicentennial Commemoration is to strive for the improvement
of the quality of life in Fort Worth; and,
WHEREAS, the creation and presentation of new art
works, the improvement of artistic standards, the preser-
vation of our cultural heritage, and the increased availa-
bility of the arts for all citizens are essential elements in
r, providing a quality urban environment; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth recognizes the arts
as an essential service, equal in importance to other essen-
tial services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Fort Worth that the City Spirit Committee
of Fort Worth be created to engender community awareness of
and participation in the creativity and talents of existing
and emerging community cultural organizations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Spirit Committee
of Fort Worth shall strive to:
1. Make involvement with and presentation of the
arts more widely available to the citizens of
the City of Fort Worth;
2. Stimulate an awareness, preservation, and en-
liancement of the cultural heritage of the City
of Fort Worth; and,
3, Foster a climate for the continuing expression
of the spirit of the City of Fort Worth through
its creative arts as reflected by existing and
emerging cultural organizations,
